Is the Cox’sBazar visit end Pakistan High Commissioner’s term?

coxbangla desk report(13 may) :: Syed Ahmed Maruf, the Pakistani High Commissioner in Dhaka, has left Bangladesh for his home country indefinitely after his Cox’s Bazar visit.

On Sunday (May 11), at 7:40 pm, the Pakistan High Commissioner left Dhaka for Islamabad, Pakistan, via Dubai, on Emirates Airlines flight EK-587.

There are various rumors going around about the Pakistani High Commissioner’s visit.

It is said that Syed Ahmed Maruf left Dhaka after being summoned by the Pakistan Foreign Ministry during his visit to Cox’s Bazar on May 9.

Where the incident began :

A source said that the incident of the Pakistan High Commissioner going to his home country this time is not normal, as Pakistani High Commissioner Syed Ahmed Maruf went to Cox’s Bazar on a three-day visit.

He arrived in Cox’s Bazar at 8:15 pm on Thursday on a US-Bangla Airlines flight (flight no. BS-159).

A photo from the airport shows Pakistan High Commissioner in Dhaka Syed Ahmed Maruf, his close business friend Azhar Mahmud and a woman staying with him.

Sources said that the High Commissioner stayed at Hotel C-Pearl in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar during his visit. The High Commissioner’s friend Azhar Mahmud was with the woman there.

On May 9, the day after they went to Cox’s Bazar, Pakistan High Commissioner in Dhaka Syed Ahmed Maruf was traveling in his own car with his friend and the woman.

The same source said that they were questioned by law enforcement agencies about their stay in Cox’s Bazar. At that time, it was reported that they had gone on a trip.

Who is that woman:

Sources say that the woman lives in a flat in Jhigatola, Dhaka. The Pakistani High Commissioner and his close friend Azhar Mahmud travel there.

In addition, the woman’s Facebook account also had several pictures with the Pakistani High Commissioner, which are no longer on her account, but the woman has deleted them.

It is learned that to keep their trip secret, the High Commissioner and his friend bought tickets together, and the woman bought tickets separately and traveled. They have a friendly relationship.

The woman is Hafiza Haque Shah, an assistant director of the 23rd batch of Bangladesh Bank. She works in the Foreign Exchange and Policy Department.

When asked about this, Hafiza Haque Shah admitted that the Pakistani High Commissioner was her previous acquaintance and said that she had met the High Commissioner in Cox’s Bazar and said, “I know the Pakistani ambassador before. I have also attended his events on various occasions.”

I have not made any complaint against him anywhere. I am in contact with the ambassadors of many countries besides the Pakistani ambassador.

Regarding the trip with the Pakistani High Commissioner to Cox’s Bazar, he said, “I went to Cox’s Bazar on a personal trip with my cousins.”

The ambassador took his family members with him. We did not go together. However, I met him in Cox’s Bazar.

Regarding the trip together in Cox’s Bazar, he claimed that I met him (the Pakistani ambassador) in the hotel lobby after going to Cox’s Bazar.

They had coffee together as acquaintances. There were many others at the time. It’s not a big deal. The idea of traveling together is false.

Hafiza Haque Shah said, “Apart from that, I went to Dhaka on my own on Saturday (May 10) afternoon flight. I don’t know when the Pakistani ambassador left or when he returned.”

However, the ticket of the Pakistani High Commissioner to Cox’s Bazar that came to hand does not have the names of his family members. It has the name of his close friend Azhar Mahmud.
Even the return ticket to Dhaka has Azhar Mahmud’s name. It is seen that they were also supposed to return to Dhaka on Saturday.

Why suddenly the Pakistani High Commissioner is in his own country:

During the Pakistani High Commissioner’s visit to Cox’s Bazar, Pakistani High Commissioner Syed Ahmed Maruf came to Dhaka urgently on the basis of the call of their Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Pakistani High Commission in Dhaka.

Sources say that when the law enforcement agencies became suspicious about the High Commissioner’s visit, they escalated it to the higher authorities and the matter reached the Pakistani government.

Later, when the High Commissioner ordered him to return to Dhaka via an emergency by-route, he left his female companion and close friend Azhar Mahmud in Cox’s Bazar and returned to Dhaka.

The ticket he received to go to Cox’s Bazar also has Azhar Mahmud’s name, and even the return ticket to Dhaka also has Azhar Mahmud’s name.

It is seen that they were supposed to return to Dhaka at 9 pm on May 10. But he came to Dhaka in his Toyota gray car, which was impressive. Later, he returned to Pakistan on Sunday.

When asked, the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka said that Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Syed Ahmed Maruf, is in Pakistan on official business.
